If you’re new here then you are probably wondering what The Journey is all about. You can find a good bit of info here, but if you want the cliff notes version of our key values and what to expect when you come, keep reading.
We meet at 1490 Hiram-Acworth Hwy. in Hiram, at 10 a.m. for worship. You can expect for the whole service to last about 1.5 hours.
We gather as smaller groups, known as gospel communities at various locations and times throughout the week. At different times, we meet for specific types of training as disciples and disciple makers.
Key Values
- We are reformed. Primarily this means that we are extremely Jesus and gospel centered and we have a strong view of the sovereignty of God. This also means we do not innovate theologically, but are anchored to an historic theological tradition recovered by men during what is commonly known as the Protestant Reformation. We believe their theology was the theology of Jesus, Paul, Peter and the other Biblical writers. You can read more on this here. (give a link to “what is a reformed church”.)
- We are Missional. Our church pulsates with a passion for people who do not know Jesus yet, and for those who need to wake up to the mission of Jesus. This is a functional value for us so it affects everything we do. Find out more about how we plan for this here. (give a link to “what is a missional church”.)
- We are Spirit Led. We do not believe all of God’s more miraculous movements have ceased, nor do we believe that all of God’s sign gifts have ceased. We do however, believe in doing all things decently and in order. We are not what you would consider a “charismatic” or “pentecostal” church, and yet we are open to the movement of God’s Spirit in our midst.
- We are Complementarian. We believe that while men and women are co-equal, they have been created by God to fulfill different roles. This mirrors God’s own relationships within the Trinity. In the home, and in the church, we seek to equip men to lead their families and their church. We believe in a male-only eldership, while women can share many other ministries in the church equally with men. When we select and train deacons, women will be among them.
- We are evangelical. We hold the bible in the highest regard. We believe that it is completely accurate in all matters of faith and practice.
